As part of our continued commitment to supporting local communities and promoting a healthier lifestyle for our customers, Tesco is proud to announce that for the seventh consecutive year, we will be supporting Cancer Research UK's Race for Life.

Race for Life is a unique series of events across the UK where women can come together to walk, run or jog 5k in aid of Cancer Research UK.  In 2007, 665,000 ladies, including nearly 22,000 Tesco staff, took part in events in their local communities across the UK.

This year, we hope to have 750,000 women taking part, including 24,000 Tesco staff, and we are aiming for a fundraising target of over £50 million.

Women come together to walk, jog or run the 5k course. You don't have to be an athlete to take part in your local event, walking the 5k course only takes around an hour!

Run 10k for Cancer Research UK

This is the fourth year that Tesco has supported Run 10k for Cancer Research UK.

In 2008, there are 41 runs that will take place at spectacular venues across the country each weekend from 31st August to October.

We're hoping that 50,000 men and women will help to raise over £5 million to help fund Cancer Research UK's ground breaking research to find out how to prevent, diagnose and treat different kinds of cancer.
